# §1862e. Evaluations of research centers


In carrying out performance reviews of research centers by the Foundation, the [Director](/usc/42/11851.md?p=5) shall take such action as may be necessary, consistent with the merit review process of the Foundation, to ensure that—

- (1) members of review panels are free from any conflict of interest; and
- (2) the conditions of each award to such centers have been fulfilled.
