# §17031. Biodiesel

- (a) **Biodiesel study—** Not later than 180 days after December 19, 2007, the [Secretary](/usc/42/17001.md?p=3), in consultation with the [Administrator](/usc/42/4005.md?p=1) of the Environmental Protection [Agency](/usc/42/8262.md?p=1), shall submit to Congress a report on any research and development challenges inherent in increasing the proportion of diesel fuel sold in the United States that is biodiesel.
- (b) **Material for the establishment of standards—** The [Director](/usc/42/11851.md?p=5) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, in consultation with the [Secretary](/usc/42/17001.md?p=3), shall make publicly available the physical property data and characterization of biodiesel and other biofuels as appropriate.
