# §15841. Energy-efficient appliances


In purchasing appliances, a public housing [agency](/usc/42/8262.md?p=1) shall purchase energy-efficient appliances that are Energy Star products or FEMP-designated products, as such terms are defined in [section 8259b of this title](/usc/42/8259b.md), unless the purchase of energy-efficient appliances is not cost-effective to the [agency](/usc/42/8262.md?p=1).
