# §1490k. FHA insurance


The [Secretary](/usc/42/242q–4.md?p=2) is authorized to act as an agent of the [Secretary](/usc/42/242q–4.md?p=2) of Housing and Urban Development to recommend insurance of any mortgage meeting the requirements of [section 1709 of title 12](/usc/12/1709.md).
