# §12835. Citizen participation


The [Secretary](/usc/42/12704.md?p=16) shall ensure that each [participating jurisdiction](/usc/42/12704.md?p=4), and each [jurisdiction](/usc/42/12704.md?p=3) seeking to become a [participating jurisdiction](/usc/42/12704.md?p=4), complies with the requirements of [section 12707 of this title](/usc/42/12707.md).
