# §11320. Encouragement of State involvement

- (a) **State contact persons—** Each [State](/usc/42/11371.md?p=8) shall designate an individual to serve as a [State](/usc/42/11371.md?p=8) contact person for the purpose of receiving and disseminating information and communications received from the [Council](/usc/42/11317.md?p=1), including the bimonthly bulletin described in [section 11313(a)(7)](/usc/42/11313.md?p=a-7)[^1] of this title.
- (b) **State interagency councils and lead agencies—** Each [State](/usc/42/11371.md?p=8) is encouraged to establish a [State](/usc/42/11371.md?p=8) interagency [council](/usc/42/11317.md?p=1) on the [homeless](/usc/42/11302.md?p=a) or designate a lead [agency](/usc/42/11317.md?p=2) for the [State](/usc/42/11371.md?p=8) for the purpose of assuming primary responsibility for coordinating and interacting with the [Council](/usc/42/11317.md?p=1) and [State](/usc/42/11371.md?p=8) and local [agencies](/usc/42/11317.md?p=2) as necessary.
