# §8509. Definitions


The term “facility” or “[Department](/usc/38/101.md?p=1) facility” as used in this subchapter means those facilities over which the [Department](/usc/38/101.md?p=1) has direct and exclusive administrative jurisdiction, including hospitals or other facilities on property owned or leased by the United States while operated by the [Department](/usc/38/101.md?p=1).
