# §3470. Selection of program


Subject to the provisions of this chapter, each [eligible veteran](/usc/38/3202.md?p=1-A) may select a [program of education](/usc/38/3002.md?p=3) to assist the [veteran](/usc/38/3701.md?p=b-2) in attaining an educational, professional, or vocational objective at any [educational institution](/usc/38/3002.md?p=8) (approved in accordance with [chapter 36](/usc/38/chptIII/ch36.md) of this title) selected by the [veteran](/usc/38/3701.md?p=b-2), which will accept and retain the [veteran](/usc/38/3701.md?p=b-2) as a student or trainee in any field or branch of knowledge which such institution finds the [veteran](/usc/38/3701.md?p=b-2) [qualified](/usc/38/4303.md?p=9) to undertake or pursue.
