# §1784. Humanitarian care


The [Secretary](/usc/38/101.md?p=1) may furnish [hospital care](/usc/38/1701.md?p=5) or [medical services](/usc/38/1701.md?p=6) as a humanitarian service in emergency cases, but the [Secretary](/usc/38/101.md?p=1) shall charge for such care and services at rates prescribed by the [Secretary](/usc/38/101.md?p=1).
