# §1731. Assistance to the Republic of the Philippines


The President is authorized to assist the Republic of the Philippines in fulfilling its responsibility in providing medical care and treatment for [Commonwealth Army veterans](/usc/38/1735.md?p=1) and [new Philippine Scouts](/usc/38/1735.md?p=1) in need of such care and treatment for [service-connected disabilities](/usc/38/1735.md?p=2) and [non-service-connected](/usc/38/101.md?p=17) [disabilities](/usc/38/1701.md?p=1) under certain conditions.
