# §1157. Combination of certain ratings


The [Secretary](/usc/38/101.md?p=1) shall provide for the combination of ratings and pay [compensation](/usc/38/101.md?p=13) at the rates prescribed in subchapter II of this chapter to those [veterans](/usc/38/1101.md?p=1) who served during a [period of war](/usc/38/1101.md?p=2) and during any other time, who have suffered [disability](/usc/38/1701.md?p=1) in line of duty in each period of service.
