# §1003. Assimilation of pay and allowances


Chapters [3](/usc/37/chch3.md) and [5](/usc/37/chch5.md) and sections [402](/usc/37/402.md) through [403b](/usc/37/403b.md), [405](/usc/37/405.md), [414](/usc/37/414.md), [452](/usc/37/452.md), and [453](/usc/37/453.md) of this title apply equally to persons who are not serving as [members](/usc/37/101.md?p=23) of a uniformed service but whose [pay](/usc/37/101.md?p=21) or allowances, or both, are assimilated under law or a regulation prescribed under law, to the [pay](/usc/37/101.md?p=21) or allowances, or both, of [commissioned officers](/usc/37/101.md?p=12), [warrant officers](/usc/37/101.md?p=13), or [enlisted members](/usc/37/101.md?p=14) of any [grade](/usc/37/101.md?p=15), [rank](/usc/37/101.md?p=16), or [rating](/usc/37/101.md?p=17) in any uniformed service.
