# §140702. Organization

- (a) **Federal Charter.—** Military Order of the World Wars (in this chapter, the “[corporation](/usc/36/220501.md?p=b-7)”), a nonprofit [corporation](/usc/36/220501.md?p=b-7) incorporated in the District of Columbia, is a federally chartered [corporation](/usc/36/220501.md?p=b-7).
- (b) **Expiration of Charter.—** The charter granted by this chapter expires if the [corporation](/usc/36/220501.md?p=b-7) fails to comply with any provision of—
  - (1) its bylaws or articles of incorporation;
  - (2) this chapter; or
  - (3) the laws of the District of Columbia that apply to [corporations](/usc/36/220501.md?p=b-7) such as the [corporation](/usc/36/220501.md?p=b-7) recognized under this chapter.
