# §50502. Blue Alert communications network


The Attorney General shall establish a national [Blue Alert](/usc/34/50501.md?p=2) communications [network](/usc/34/50501.md?p=5) within the Department of Justice to issue [Blue Alerts](/usc/34/50501.md?p=2) through the initiation, facilitation, and promotion of [Blue Alert plans](/usc/34/50501.md?p=3), in coordination with [States](/usc/34/50102.md?p=4), units of local government, law enforcement agencies, and other appropriate entities.
