# §12441. Grants to protect the privacy and confidentiality of victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking


The [Attorney General](/usc/34/10307.md?p=1), through the Director of the Office on Violence Against Women, may award grants under this part to [States](/usc/34/11103.md?p=7), [Indian tribes](/usc/34/11103.md?p=18), territories, or local agencies or nonprofit, nongovernmental organizations to ensure that [personally identifying information](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-25) of adult, [youth](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-52), and child victims of [domestic violence](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-12), sexual violence, [stalking](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-36), and [dating violence](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-11) shall not be released or disclosed to the detriment of such victimized persons.
