# §12371. Grants authorized


The [State](/usc/34/11103.md?p=7) Justice Institute may award grants for the purpose of developing, testing, presenting, and disseminating model programs to be used by [States](/usc/34/11103.md?p=7) (as defined in [section 10701 of title 42](/usc/42/10701.md)) in training judges and court personnel in the laws of the [States](/usc/34/11103.md?p=7) and by [Indian tribes](/usc/34/11103.md?p=18) in training tribal judges and court personnel in the laws of the tribes on rape, [sexual assault](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-35), [domestic violence](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-12), [dating violence](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-11), and other crimes of violence motivated by the victim’s gender. Nothing shall preclude the attendance of tribal judges and court personnel at programs funded under this section for [States](/usc/34/11103.md?p=7) to train judges and court personnel on the laws of the [States](/usc/34/11103.md?p=7).
