# §12225. Award of grants


The [Attorney General](/usc/34/10307.md?p=1) shall consider the following facts in awarding grants:

- (1) Demonstrated need and evidence of the ability to provide the [services](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-51) described in the plan required under [section 12223 of this title](/usc/34/12223.md).
- (2) The [Attorney General](/usc/34/10307.md?p=1) shall attempt, to the extent practicable, to achieve an equitable geographic distribution of grant awards.
