# §12221. Grant authorization

- (a) **In general—** The [Attorney General](/usc/34/10307.md?p=1) may make grants to [State](/usc/34/11103.md?p=7), [Indian](/usc/34/12291.md?p=a-18) tribal, or local prosecutors for the purpose of supporting the creation or expansion of community-based justice programs.
- (b) **Consultation—** The [Attorney General](/usc/34/10307.md?p=1) may consult with the Ounce of Prevention [Council](/usc/34/11103.md?p=17) in making grants under [subsection (a)](#a).
