# §2313a. Engineering and environmental innovations of national significance

- (a) **Surveys, plans, and studies—** To encourage innovative and environmentally sound engineering solutions and innovative environmental solutions to problems of national significance, the [Secretary](/usc/33/426h–1.md?p=2) may undertake surveys, plans, and studies and prepare reports that may lead to work under existing civil works authorities or to recommendations for authorizations.
- (b) **Funding—**
  - (1) **Authorization of appropriations—** There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $1,000,000 for each of fiscal years 1997 through 2000.
  - (2) **Funding from other sources—** The [Secretary](/usc/33/426h–1.md?p=2) may accept and expend additional funds from other Federal agencies, States, or non-Federal entities for purposes of carrying out this section.
