# §1756. Expanded royalty obligations


Any [lessee](/usc/30/1702.md?p=7) is liable for [royalty](/usc/30/1702.md?p=14) [payments](/usc/30/1702.md?p=28) on [oil or gas](/usc/30/1702.md?p=9) lost or wasted from a [lease site](/usc/30/1702.md?p=6) when such loss or waste is due to negligence on the part of the [operator](/usc/30/1702.md?p=11) of the [lease](/usc/30/1702.md?p=5), or due to the failure to comply with any rule or regulation, order or citation issued under this chapter or any [mineral leasing law](/usc/30/1702.md?p=8).
