# §1731. Application of subchapter


This subchapter shall apply only with respect to oil and gas [leases](/usc/30/1702.md?p=5) on [Federal lands](/usc/30/1702.md?p=1) or [Indian lands](/usc/30/1702.md?p=3). Nothing in this subchapter shall be construed to apply to any [lease](/usc/30/1702.md?p=5) on the Outer Continental Shelf.
