# §1444. Disclaimer of obligation to pay compensation


Sections [1441](/usc/30/1441.md) and [1442](/usc/30/1442.md) of this title do not create or express any legal or moral obligation on the part of the [United States](/usc/30/1403.md?p=13) Government to compensate any [person](/usc/30/1403.md?p=10) for any impairment of the value of that [person](/usc/30/1403.md?p=10)’s investment in any operation for [exploration](/usc/30/1403.md?p=5) or [commercial recovery](/usc/30/1403.md?p=1) under subchapter I which might occur in connection with the entering into force of an [international agreement](/usc/30/1403.md?p=7) with respect to the [United States](/usc/30/1403.md?p=13).
