# §471. Effective date

- (a) **In General.—** Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, this chapter shall take effect on October 1, 1997.
- (b) **Regulations.—** Sections [411(d)](/usc/3/411.md?p=d), [412(c)](/usc/3/412.md?p=c), [413(c)](/usc/3/413.md?p=c), [414(c)](/usc/3/414.md?p=c), [415(c)](/usc/3/415.md?p=c), [416(c)](/usc/3/416.md?p=c), [421(d)](/usc/3/421.md?p=d), [425(d)](/usc/3/425.md?p=d), [431(c)](/usc/3/431.md?p=c), [431(d)](/usc/3/431.md?p=d), [452(a)](/usc/3/452.md?p=a), and [454(a)](/usc/3/454.md?p=a) shall take effect on the date of enactment of this Act.[^1]
