# §1842. Confirmation of registration


No [person](/usc/29/1802.md?p=9) shall utilize the services of any [farm labor contractor](/usc/29/1802.md?p=7) to supply any migrant or [seasonal agricultural worker](/usc/29/1802.md?p=10-A) unless the [person](/usc/29/1802.md?p=9) first takes reasonable steps to determine that the [farm labor contractor](/usc/29/1802.md?p=7) possesses a certificate of registration which is valid and which authorizes the activity for which the contractor is utilized. In making that determination, the [person](/usc/29/1802.md?p=9) may rely upon either possession of a certificate of registration, or confirmation of such registration by the Department of Labor. The [Secretary](/usc/29/1802.md?p=11) shall maintain a central public registry of all [persons](/usc/29/1802.md?p=9) issued a certificate of registration.
