# §219. Injunction proceedings; compromise of liability

- (a) The several district courts of the [United States](/usc/27/214.md?p=12) are vested with jurisdiction, for cause shown, to prevent and restrain violations of this subchapter upon the application of the Attorney General of the [United States](/usc/27/214.md?p=12) acting through the several [United States](/usc/27/214.md?p=12) attorneys in their several districts.
- (b) The [Secretary](/usc/27/214.md?p=9) is authorized, with respect to any violation of this subchapter, to compromise the liability arising with respect to such violation upon payment of a sum for each offense, to be collected by the [Secretary](/usc/27/214.md?p=9) and to be paid into the Treasury as miscellaneous receipts.
