# §3075. Interagency working group

- (a) **In general—** The [Secretary](/usc/25/3072.md?p=9) shall designate a coordinating office to convene an interagency working group consisting of representatives from the Departments of the Interior, Justice, State, and Homeland Security.
- (b) **Goals—** The goals of the interagency working group convened under [subsection (a)](#a) are—
  - (1) to facilitate the repatriation to [Indian Tribes](/usc/25/3072.md?p=4) and [Native Hawaiian organizations](/usc/25/3072.md?p=8) of items that have been illegally removed or trafficked in violation of applicable law;
  - (2) to protect [tangible cultural heritage](/usc/25/3072.md?p=10), [cultural items](/usc/25/3072.md?p=3), and [archaeological resources](/usc/25/3072.md?p=1) still in the possession of [Indian Tribes](/usc/25/3072.md?p=4) and [Native Hawaiian organizations](/usc/25/3072.md?p=8); and
  - (3) to improve the implementation by the applicable Federal agencies of—
    - (A) the [Native American](/usc/25/3072.md?p=7) Graves Protection and Repatriation Act ([25 U.S.C. 3001](/usc/25/3001.md) et seq.) (including [section 1170 of title 18](/usc/18/1170.md), as added by that Act);
    - (B) the [Archaeological Resources](/usc/25/3072.md?p=1) Protection Act of 1979 ([16 U.S.C. 470aa](/usc/16/470aa.md) et seq.); and
    - (C) other relevant Federal laws.
- (c) **Responsibilities—** The interagency working group convened under [subsection (a)](#a) shall—
  - (1) aid in implementation of this chapter and the amendments made by this Act, including by aiding in—
    - (A) the voluntary return of [tangible cultural heritage](/usc/25/3072.md?p=10) under [section 3074 of this title](/usc/25/3074.md); and
    - (B) halting international sales of items that are prohibited from being trafficked under Federal law; and
  - (2) collaborate with—
    - (A) the Native working group convened under [section 3076(a) of this title](/usc/25/3076.md?p=a);
    - (B) the review committee established under [section 8(a)](/usc/25/8.md) of the [Native American](/usc/25/3072.md?p=7) Graves Protection and Repatriation Act ([25 U.S.C. 3006(a)](/usc/25/3006.md?p=a));
    - (C) the Cultural Heritage Coordinating Committee established pursuant to [section 2](/usc/25/2.md) of the Protect and Preserve International Cultural Property Act (Public Law 114–151; [19 U.S.C. 2601](/usc/19/2601.md) note); and
    - (D) any other relevant committees and working groups.
