# §3055. Forest products for traditional and cultural purposes

- (a) **In general—** Notwithstanding [section 472a of title 16](/usc/16/472a.md), the [Secretary](/usc/25/5130.md?p=1) may provide free of charge to [Indian tribes](/usc/25/3052.md?p=5) any trees, portions of trees, or forest products from [National Forest System](/usc/25/3052.md?p=7) land for [traditional and cultural purposes](/usc/25/3052.md?p=9).
- (b) **Prohibition—** Trees, portions of trees, or forest products provided under [subsection (a)](#a) may not be used for commercial purposes.
