# §3008. Grants

- (a) **Indian tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations—** The [Secretary](/usc/25/3001.md?p=14) is authorized to make grants to [Indian tribes](/usc/25/3001.md?p=7) and [Native Hawaiian organizations](/usc/25/3001.md?p=11) for the purpose of assisting such tribes and organizations in the repatriation of [Native American](/usc/25/3001.md?p=9) [cultural items](/usc/25/3001.md?p=3).
- (b) **Museums—** The [Secretary](/usc/25/3001.md?p=14) is authorized to make grants to [museums](/usc/25/3001.md?p=8) for the purpose of assisting the [museums](/usc/25/3001.md?p=8) in conducting the inventories and identification required under sections [3003](/usc/25/3003.md) and [3004](/usc/25/3004.md) of this title.
