# §305. Archeological and paleontological salvage


Funds authorized to be appropriated to carry out this title to the extent approved as necessary by the [highway](/usc/23/101.md?p=a-11) department of any [State](/usc/23/101.md?p=a-28), may be used for archeological and paleontological salvage in that [State](/usc/23/101.md?p=a-28) in compliance with the Act entitled “An Act for the preservation of American antiquities”, approved June 8, 1906 (34 Stat. 225), and [State](/usc/23/101.md?p=a-28) laws where applicable,
