# §4030. Suitability reviews for Foreign Service Institute instructors


The [Secretary](/usc/22/3902.md?p=10) shall take reasonable steps to ensure that all instructors at the Foreign Service Institute, including direct hires and contractors, who provide language instruction are—

- (1) subject to suitability reviews and background investigations; and
- (2) subject to periodic background checks or reinvestigations to the extent consistent with [Department](/usc/22/3902.md?p=4) and Executive policy for other [Department](/usc/22/3902.md?p=4) personnel.
