# §3714b. Printing

- (a) Sections [501](/usc/44/501.md) through [517](/usc/44/517.md) and [1101](/usc/44/1101.md) through [1123](/usc/44/1123.md) of title 44 shall not apply to direct purchase by the [Commission](/usc/22/277d–43.md?p=2) for its use of printing, binding, and blank-book work in the Republic of Panama when the [Commission](/usc/22/277d–43.md?p=2) determines that such direct purchase is in the best interest of the Government.
- (b) This section shall not affect the [Commission](/usc/22/277d–43.md?p=2)’s authority, under [chapter 5](/usc/44/chch5.md) of title 44, to operate a field printing plant.
