# §1643l. Determination of ownership of claims referred by district courts of the United States


Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter and only for purposes of [section 6082 of this title](/usc/22/6082.md), a United State[^1] district court, for fact-finding purposes, may refer to the [Commission](/usc/22/1643a.md?p=2), and the [Commission](/usc/22/1643a.md?p=2) may determine, questions of the amount and ownership of a claim by a United States national (as defined in [section 6023 of this title](/usc/22/6023.md)), resulting from the confiscation of [property](/usc/22/1643a.md?p=3) by the [Government of Cuba](/usc/22/1643a.md?p=4) described in [section 1643b(a) of this title](/usc/22/1643b.md?p=a), whether or not the United States national qualified as a [national of the United States](/usc/22/1643a.md?p=1) (as defined in [section 1643a(1) of this title](/usc/22/1643a.md?p=1)) at the time of the action by the [Government of Cuba](/usc/22/1643a.md?p=4).
