# §379d. Automation of Food and Drug Administration

- (a) **In general—** The [Secretary](/usc/21/321.md?p=d), acting through the [Commissioner](/usc/21/321.md?p=ee) of [Food](/usc/21/321.md?p=f) and [Drugs](/usc/21/321.md?p=g-1), shall automate appropriate activities of the [Food](/usc/21/321.md?p=f) and [Drug](/usc/21/321.md?p=g-1) Administration to ensure timely review of activities regulated under this chapter.
- (b) **Authorization of appropriations—** There are [authorized](/usc/21/360eee.md?p=2) to be appropriated each fiscal year such sums as are necessary to carry out this section.
