# §374a. Inspections relating to food allergens


The [Secretary](/usc/21/321.md?p=d) of Health and Human Services shall conduct inspections consistent with the authority under [section 374 of this title](/usc/21/374.md) of [facilities](/usc/21/364.md?p=3-A) in which [foods](/usc/21/321.md?p=f) are manufactured, processed, packed, or held—

- (1) to ensure that the entities operating the [facilities](/usc/21/364.md?p=3-A) comply with practices to reduce or eliminate cross-contact of a [food](/usc/21/321.md?p=f) with residues of [major food allergens](/usc/21/321.md?p=qq) that are not intentional ingredients of the [food](/usc/21/321.md?p=f); and
- (2) to ensure that [major food allergens](/usc/21/321.md?p=qq) are properly labeled on [foods](/usc/21/321.md?p=f).
