# §9601. Definitions


In this subchapter:

- (1) **In general—** The terms “[local educational agency](/usc/20/9501.md?p=1-A)” and “[State educational agency](/usc/20/9501.md?p=1-A)” have the meanings given those terms in [section 7801 of this title](/usc/20/7801.md).
- (2) **Secretary—** The term “[Secretary](/usc/20/9501.md?p=21)” means the [Secretary](/usc/20/9501.md?p=21) of Education.
