# §7919. Outreach and technical assistance for rural local educational agencies

- (a) **Outreach—** The [Secretary](/usc/20/7801.md?p=46) shall engage in outreach to rural [local educational agencies](/usc/20/7713.md?p=9-A) regarding opportunities to apply for competitive grant programs under this chapter.
- (b) **Technical assistance—** If requested to do so, the [Secretary](/usc/20/7801.md?p=46) shall provide technical assistance to rural [local educational agencies](/usc/20/7713.md?p=9-A) with locale codes 32, 33, 41, 42, or 43, or an [educational service agency](/usc/20/7801.md?p=18) representing rural [local educational agencies](/usc/20/7713.md?p=9-A) with locale codes 32, 33, 41, 42, or 43 on applications or pre-applications for any competitive grant program under this chapter. No rural [local educational agency](/usc/20/7713.md?p=9-A) or [educational service agency](/usc/20/7801.md?p=18) shall be required to request technical assistance or include any technical assistance provided by the [Secretary](/usc/20/7801.md?p=46) in any application.
