# §7513. Purposes


The purposes of this part are to—

- (1) authorize and develop innovative educational programs to assist [Native Hawaiians](/usc/20/7517.md?p=2);
- (2) provide direction and guidance to appropriate Federal, [State](/usc/20/7171.md?p=b-6), and local agencies to focus resources, including resources made available under this part, on [Native Hawaiian](/usc/20/7517.md?p=2) education, and to provide periodic assessment and data collection;
- (3) supplement and [expand](/usc/20/7221i.md?p=7) programs and authorities in the area of education to further the purposes of this subchapter; and
- (4) encourage the maximum participation of [Native Hawaiians](/usc/20/7517.md?p=2) in planning and management of [Native Hawaiian](/usc/20/7517.md?p=2) education programs.
