# §3472. Delegation of functions


Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, the [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) may delegate any [function](/usc/20/3404.md?p=4) to such officers and employees of the [Department](/usc/20/3404.md?p=1) as the [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) may designate, and may authorize such successive redelegations of such [functions](/usc/20/3404.md?p=4) within the [Department](/usc/20/3404.md?p=1) as may be necessary or appropriate. No delegation of [functions](/usc/20/3404.md?p=4) by the [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) under this section or under any other provision of this chapter shall relieve the [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) of responsibility for the administration of such [functions](/usc/20/3404.md?p=4).
