# §3417. Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services


There shall be in the [Department](/usc/20/3404.md?p=1) an [Office](/usc/20/3404.md?p=7) of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, to be administered by the Assistant [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services appointed under [section 3412(b) of this title](/usc/20/3412.md?p=b). Notwithstanding the provisions of [section 3472 of this title](/usc/20/3472.md), the [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) shall delegate to the Assistant [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) all [functions](/usc/20/3404.md?p=4), other than administrative and support [functions](/usc/20/3404.md?p=4), transferred to the [Secretary](/usc/20/3404.md?p=2) under [sections 3441(a)(1)](/usc/20/3441.md?p=a-1) of this title (with respect to the bureau for the education and training of the handicapped), [3441(a)(2)(H)](/usc/20/3441.md?p=a-2-H) of this title, and [3441(a)(4)](/usc/20/3441.md?p=a-4) of this title.
