# §1466. Authorization of appropriations

- (a) **In general—** There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this part (other than [section 1462 of this title](/usc/20/1462.md)) such sums as may be necessary for each of the fiscal years 2005 through 2010.
- (b) **Reservation—** From amounts appropriated under [subsection (a)](#a) for fiscal year 2005, the [Secretary](/usc/20/1401.md?p=28) shall reserve $1,000,000 to carry out the study authorized in [section 1464(c) of this title](/usc/20/1464.md?p=c). From amounts appropriated under [subsection (a)](#a) for a succeeding fiscal year, the [Secretary](/usc/20/1401.md?p=28) may reserve an additional amount to carry out such study if the [Secretary](/usc/20/1401.md?p=28) determines the additional amount is necessary.
