# §1161n–1. Reservations

- (a) **Reservations—** Of the amount appropriated to carry out this part in each fiscal year—
  - (1) not less than 50 percent shall be available for awarding grants to institutions of higher education and consortia of such institutions described in [section 1161n–2(a)(1)(A) of this title](/usc/20/1161n–2.md?p=a-1-A) for [cooperative education](/usc/20/1161n.md?p=b) under [section 1161n–2 of this title](/usc/20/1161n–2.md);
  - (2) not less than 25 percent shall be available for awarding grants to institutions of higher education described in [section 1161n–2(a)(1)(B) of this title](/usc/20/1161n–2.md?p=a-1-B) for [cooperative education](/usc/20/1161n.md?p=b) under [section 1161n–2 of this title](/usc/20/1161n–2.md);
  - (3) not to exceed 11 percent shall be available for demonstration projects under paragraph (1) of [section 1161n–3(a) of this title](/usc/20/1161n–3.md?p=a);
  - (4) not to exceed 11 percent shall be available for training and resource centers under paragraph (2) of [section 1161n–3(a) of this title](/usc/20/1161n–3.md?p=a); and
  - (5) not to exceed 3 percent shall be available for research under paragraph (3) of [section 1161n–3(a) of this title](/usc/20/1161n–3.md?p=a).
- (b) **Availability of appropriations—** Amounts appropriated under this part shall not be used for the payment of compensation of students for employment by employers participating in a program under this part.
