# §5512. Use of available balances of expired appropriations

- (a) Subject to [section 5511 of this title](/usc/2/5511.md), available balances of expired appropriations for the House of Representatives shall be available to the House of Representatives—
  - (1) for the payment of a death gratuity which is specifically appropriated by law and which is made in connection with the death of an [employee](/usc/2/4558.md?p=2) of the House of Representatives, without regard to the fiscal year in which the payment is made; and
  - (2) for deposit into the account established under [section 5508 of this title](/usc/2/5508.md) for making payments of the House of Representatives to the [Employees](/usc/2/4558.md?p=2)’ Compensation Fund under [section 8147 of title 5](/usc/5/8147.md) and for reimbursing the Secretary of Labor for any amounts paid with respect to unemployment compensation payments for former [employees](/usc/2/4558.md?p=2) of the House.
- (b) This section shall apply with respect to funds appropriated or otherwise made available in fiscal year 2020 and each succeeding fiscal year.
