# §179r. Remedies

- (a) **Jurisdiction—** The several district courts of the United States shall have jurisdiction, for cause shown, to prevent and restrain violations of [section 179q(a) of this title](/usc/2/179q.md?p=a).
- (b) **Relief—**
  - (1) **Removal of seal—** Except as provided in [paragraph (2)](#b-2), relief for violation of [section 179q(a) of this title](/usc/2/179q.md?p=a) shall be limited to the removal of the seal of the National [Film](/usc/2/179u.md?p=3) Registry from the [film](/usc/2/179u.md?p=3) involved in the violation.
  - (2) **Fine and injunctive relief—** In the case of a pattern or practice of the willful violation of [section 179q(a) of this title](/usc/2/179q.md?p=a), the United States district courts may order a civil fine of not more than $10,000 and appropriate injunctive relief.
