# §3905. Importing and exporting authorities

- (a) **In the United States—** For purposes of this chapter—
  - (1) the [importing authority](/usc/19/3902.md?p=4) shall be the [United States](/usc/19/3902.md?p=10) Bureau of Customs and Border Protection or, in the case of a territory or possession of the [United States](/usc/19/3902.md?p=10) with its own customs administration, analogous officials; and
  - (2) the [exporting authority](/usc/19/3902.md?p=3) shall be the Bureau of the Census.
- (b) **Of other countries—** The President shall publish in the Federal Register a list of all [Participants](/usc/19/3902.md?p=7), and all [exporting authorities](/usc/19/3902.md?p=3) and [importing authorities](/usc/19/3902.md?p=4) of [Participants](/usc/19/3902.md?p=7). The President shall update the list as necessary.
