# §339. Restriction on consular certificates


No consular officer of the [United States](/usc/19/1683.md?p=9) shall grant a certificate for merchandise shipped from [countries](/usc/19/1677.md?p=3) adjacent to the [United States](/usc/19/1683.md?p=9), which have passed a consulate after purchase for shipment.
