# §2572. Exemptions


This subchapter does not apply to—

- (1) any [standards](/usc/19/2571.md?p=13) activity engaged in by any [Federal agency](/usc/19/2571.md?p=3) or [State agency](/usc/19/2571.md?p=16) for the use (including, but not limited to, use with respect to research and development, production, or consumption) of that [agency](/usc/19/2578b.md?p=a-1) or the use of another such [agency](/usc/19/2578b.md?p=a-1); or
- (2) any [standards](/usc/19/2571.md?p=13) activity engaged in by any [private person](/usc/19/2571.md?p=9) solely for use in the production or consumption of [products](/usc/19/2571.md?p=10) by that [person](/usc/19/1683.md?p=8).
