# §933. Trafficking in firearms

- (a) **In General.—** It shall be unlawful for any [person](/usc/18/229F.md?p=5) to—
  - (1) ship, transport, transfer, cause to be transported, or otherwise dispose of any [firearm](/usc/18/232.md?p=4) to another [person](/usc/18/229F.md?p=5) in or otherwise affecting [interstate or foreign commerce](/usc/18/921.md?p=a-2), if such [person](/usc/18/229F.md?p=5) knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the use, carrying, or possession of a [firearm](/usc/18/232.md?p=4) by the recipient would constitute a felony (as defined in [section 932(a)](/usc/18/932.md?p=a));
  - (2) receive from another [person](/usc/18/229F.md?p=5) any [firearm](/usc/18/232.md?p=4) in or otherwise affecting [interstate or foreign commerce](/usc/18/921.md?p=a-2), if the recipient knows or has reasonable cause to believe that such receipt would constitute a felony; or
  - (3) attempt or conspire to commit the conduct described in paragraph [(1)](#a-1) or [(2)](#a-2).
- (b) **Penalty.—** Any [person](/usc/18/229F.md?p=5) who violates [subsection (a)](#a) shall be fined under this title, imprisoned for not more than 15 years, or both.
