# §3528. Definition


For purposes of this chapter, the term “[State](/usc/18/3077.md?p=5)” means each of the several [States](/usc/18/3077.md?p=5), the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and any territory or possession of the United States.
