# §3291. Nationality, citizenship and passports


No person shall be prosecuted, tried, or punished for violation of any provision of sections [1423](/usc/18/1423.md) to [1428](/usc/18/1428.md), inclusive, of [chapter 69](/usc/18/chptI/ch69.md) and sections [1541](/usc/18/1541.md) to [1544](/usc/18/1544.md), inclusive, of [chapter 75](/usc/18/chptI/ch75.md) of title 18 of the United States Code, or for conspiracy to violate any of such sections, unless the indictment is found or the information is instituted within ten years after the commission of the [offense](/usc/18/3156.md?p=a-2).
