# §2245. Offenses resulting in death

- (a) **1 In General.—** A [person](/usc/18/229F.md?p=5) who, in the course of an offense under this chapter, or section [1591](/usc/18/1591.md), [2251](/usc/18/2251.md), [2251A](/usc/18/2251A.md), [2260](/usc/18/2260.md), [2421](/usc/18/2421.md), [2422](/usc/18/2422.md), [2423](/usc/18/2423.md), or [2425](/usc/18/2425.md), murders an individual, shall be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life.
